Taliban commander for Herat’s Zawol district killed

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Taliban commander for Zawol district of western Herat province has been killed during a foreign forces drone strike, officials said Saturday.

Abdul Ahad Walizada, Herat police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mullah Javid aka Mullah Daad, the Taliban’s commander for Zawol district was killed along with three of his comrades in a drone strike in Azizabad area of the district on Monday night.

He said that Mullah Javid was a key Taliban commander who came under attack while driving a vehicle.

Taliban did not comment yet about the incident so far.

Airstrikes targeting Taliban insurgents have recently increased across the country. So far, many insurgents are reported to be killed or wounded during the attacks that also caused casualties to civilians.
