14 Taliban killed in ongoing Kapisa operation

MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Fourteen Taliban militants have been killed and seven others wounded during ongoing operations in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Wednesday.

Nijrab local police commander Abdul Sabor Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the operations, backed by air support, had been ongoing since Tuesday night.

He said so far 14 insurgents had been killed and seven others wounded and many areas purged of their presence.

Meanwhile, provincial police spokesman Sarwar Kohistani said the operations in Nijrab district were successfully underway and so far the security forces and civilians had suffered no casualties.

Ajmal, a resident of Afghan Dara area of Nijrab district, told Pajhwok that the operations were underway in their area for the last three days, forcing many families to flee.

He confirmed the government forces had retaken a number of areas from the insurgents.
