LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A man stabbed his wife to death and made his escape good last night in the capital of southern Helmand province, police said on Wednesday.
The incident happened on Tuesday night inside a home in the limits of the second police district of Lashkargah, the provincial capital, said crime branch police chief Abdul Shakoor Khan.
He identified the alleged killer as Mohammad Gul. Police were searching for Gul to arrest him and bring him to justice, he said.
A brother of the slain woman, Mohammad Ikhlas, said his sister had long been tortured at the house of her in laws and was finally killed.
“I tried many times to get my sister divorced, but relatives would intervene and settle the matter, but finally they took her life.” He said her sister left behind two daughters and one son.
Human rights official in Helmand Anifa Maroofi asked the police to arrest the killer and try to award him severe punishment.
