PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Eight Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel have been killed and four others wounded in a Taliban attack in western Baghlan province.
Safdar Mohseni, a member of the provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants stormed a security check-post on Wednesday night.
Eight ALP men were killed and four others wounded, he said, adding three Taliban were also wounded in a clash in limits of the 3rd police district. The rebels took away ALP weapons and ammunition, he added.
Provincial security officials have not yet commented on the clash -- confirmed by the Taliban, whose spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the fighters had captured a check-post.
