MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Taliban have expelled tens of families of security personnel and members of the local uprising groups in the Gerizwan district of northwestern Faryab province from their homes, an official said on Friday.

Mullah Faizullah, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban expelled around 200 families of security personnel and members of the local uprising groups from their homes over their cooperation and support to the government.

He said 70 families from Dara Zang, 60 families from Ghulbyan, 50 families from Yokhan, 15 families from Pakhal Suz, 11 families from Dahmaran and some more families from other villages had been forced to leave their home following the orders of Maulvi Hameedullah Danish, the Taliban shadow governor for Gerizwan.

According to the sources the Taliban have not allowed women and children to get clothes and food with themselves.

The Taliban shadow governor defended the move saying the step had been taken to ensure the safety and security of the Taliban.

He said 20 to 30 families had been forced to leave their homes and alleged the government for exaggerating the numbers.
