QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Local officials on Thursday said six soldiers have been killed and the district chief among 10 others wounded in a Taliban attack on the center of Aabkamari district of northwestern Badghis province.
Governor’s spokesman, Jamshid Shahabi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban launched a coordinated attack on the district center on Wednesday night.
He said six soldiers and 10 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 other insurgents wounded in the battle.
“Ajab Gul Kakar, the chief of Aabkamari district and nine soldiers wounded in this incident,” Shahabi said.
The wounded have been evacuated to Badghis Civil Hospital in Qala-I-Naw, the provincial capital, he said, adding the health condition of the injured was stable.
Reinforcements are arrived to the district center and the situation is currently under the control of Afghan forces, he concluded.
Taliban confirmed the battle but provided no information about casualties.
