KABUL (Pajhwok): The Chief Executive Office (CEO) on Thursday reacted to second deputy CEO Mohammad Mohaqiq’s dismissal by the president and termed it against the National Unity Government (NUG) agreement.
Earlier in the day, President Ashraf Ghani dismissed the second deputy chief executive officer Mohaqiq under Article 64 of Afghanistan’s constitution, according to a presidential decree, a copy of which is available with Pajhwok Afghan News.
In reaction, the Chief Executive Office in a statement said creating instability would benefit none, saying the NUG was incepted in the presence of national and international observers following an agreement between the two leading presidential teams.
It said the unity government agreement was reached in a critical time of history to establish a legal government for bringing stability, political cohesion, introducing reforms and encouraging the spirit of cooperation.
The statement said any unilateral decision against the NUG in this critical juncture might harm national unity, joint cooperation and stability.
