Policeman shot dead by masked gunmen in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a policeman and took away his weapon in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday morning, an official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in the second police district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

He said the attackers escaped with the policeman’s rifle. An investigation into the incident was ongoing, the gubernatorial spokesman added.

An eyewitness said on condition of anonymity that the policeman was gunned down inside the old customs building by three masked attackers near Talashi Square.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
