‘Russia meeting vital for political dialogue in Afghanistan’

KABUL Movement On February 5-6, according to a media report on Tuesday.

The Afghan diasporas living in Russia meeting, the CIS states, a number of European and Asian countries has taken the initiative and organised the meeting.

The aim of this event is to form a broad inter-Afghan basis for launching peace process in Afghanistan and to involve main political formations representing the interests of all public strata of this country.

The Russian side welcomes this initiative of the civil society of the IRA and believes that direct communication between the Afghans themselves can provide inclusiveness to the political dialogue in Afghanistan, open ways for the participation of the armed opposition in it. The upcoming meeting, in essence, embodies the principle of the "Afghan-led, Afghan-owned" peace process endorsed by the international community.

Nevertheless, there are forces that are striving to jeopardize the holding of this important event by spreading fake invitations to it on the Internet. Moreover, it is argued that "under the guise of" the inter-Afghan meeting supposedly the next meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan will be held, in which official representatives of the states of the region take part. With all responsibility we declare that these speculations have nothing to do with reality.
