KABUL and Afghan politicians who met in Moscow and agreed to continue talks, the Afghan government on Thursday said the gathering in Russia was a political summit and lacked executive outcome.
The two-day talks chaired by Former President Hamid Karzai and participated by Afghan politicians and Taliban representatives concluded Wednesday evening and resulted in a joint declaration.
Haroon Chakhansori, spokesman to the president, on Thursday told Pajhwok Afghan News that the meeting in Moscow was a political dialogue about peace, not peace negotiations.
He said the declaration heard at the end of the meeting had no executive results.
The joint declaration in Moscow meeting was read out by former finance minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal. It called for a complete withdrawal of US-led foreign forces and intra-Afghan peace dialogue.
The participants of the meeting also decided to attend such talks to be organized in Qatar.
