BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Continued snowfall and storms have blocked all roads in central Bamyan province except the Kotal-i-Shiber pass which connects the province with central capital Kabul.
The heavy snow and strong storms clogged highways connecting the provincial capital, Bamyan City, with a number of districts last night.
Abdul Rahman Ahmadi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the snowfall had disconnected Panjab, Waras, Sighan and Yakawlang districts from Bamyan City.
Abdul Khaliq, an official in Shiber district, told Pajhwok that dozens of passengers had been stuck at Kotal Hajigak pass since yesterday night but they were rescued by security forces at around 4:00am this morning.
He said the snowfall that started on Wednesday still continued, reaching above 30 centimeters.
Abdul Ahmad Mubariz, Yakawlang district chief, asked passengers not to travel until they were informed to do so.
