JALALABAD/MAHOMOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Security officials on Wednesday said five Taliban insurgents including a commander were killed and four others wounded in separate incidents in eastern Nangarhar and central Kapisa provinces.
Spokesman of the 201 Silab Military Corps in the east, Maj. Mohammad Haroon Yosafzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that four rebels were killed and 3 others wounded in mine blast in Zawa area of Khogwani district on Nangarhar late on Tuesday.
He said that the insurgents wanted to plant a bomb in a crowded civilian area, but it was exploded on the rebels.
Elsewhere, a Taliban commander was killed and his bodyguard injured in security forces operation in Tagab district of Kapisa province on Tuesday night.
Armed Taliban have not yet said anything in this regard.
Kapisa police chief, Mohammad Naim Safi, told Pajhwok that the Taliban commander killed in the incident named Ajmal who he said was a resident of Tagab district.
He said that the Taliban commander had organized a plan to attack police forces in the district, but Afghan forces received a tip-off on the regard and they attacked the rebels first.
Taliban did not comment about the incidents so far.
