KABUL John Bass on Wednesday said his country respected the right of Afghans to make their own decisions and choose their own future through intra-Afghan talks.
“The process leading to those discussions must be inclusive -- 50% of society must be heard and included,” the ambassador told audience attending a symposium on “women, peace, and security’ arranged by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission in Kabul.
Bass said the women of Afghanistan had a vital role to play in bringing 40 years of the conflict in their homeland to an end.
“Afghanistan has made substantial progress on rights of women to live fully, participate in public life, and achieve their full potential. US and int’l community supported the Afghan women in that achievement and will continue to do so,”the US envoy said.
