KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A border police commander was gunned down on Tuesday along with a bodyguard in southern Kandahar province in an apparently targeted attack, an official said.
Aziz Ahmad Azizi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the border police commander, Haji Mandi, was on his way when came under a gun attack in Faisal Qala locality of Kandahar City, the provincial capital, at around 2:00pm today.
He said Haji Mandi and one of his bodyguards were killed in the attack involving unknown assailants, who escaped after the incident. Azizi said police had launched their investigation into the attack.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
