MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Acting defense and interior ministers arrived in the capital of northern Balkh province on Friday, a day after security forces clashed with supporters of former governor Atta Mohammad Noor.
The clash that left at least 18 people injured erupted over the appointment of the new provincial police chief in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital. However, the new police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Raqib Mubarez, took charge after the standoff.
