KABUL have released 58 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers in western Badghis province.
The soldiers had been captured by militants as a result of clashes in Bala Marghab district a few days back.
Earlier, dozens of other soldiers were deported to Afghanistan after they fled to neighbouring Turkmenistan.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the release of 58 soldiers, saying thry had been sent to their homes safely.
In a statement, the militant group’s spokesman said the soldiers had promised quitting ANA ranks. Based on their promise, he said, the military personnel were freed.
