KABUL has gone down to Malaysia in the Airmarine Cup match for third spot at the National Stadium in Kuala Lampur, says a media report.

Saturday’s encounter, played in Bukit Jalil, was won 2-1 by lower-ranked Malaysia, which was edged 1-0 by Singapore on Wednesday, according to the Star Online.

Ranked 147th in the world, Afghanistan drew first blood in the 31st minute through midfielder Faysal Shayesteh In the first half. He curled in a left-foot shot to beat the rival goalkeeper.

Malaysia’s equalizer came 12 minutes later, thanks to Faiz Nasir, who thumped in a shot from outside the box.

In the second half, Matthew Davies netted a second goal for Malaysia through a cross from the right in the 83rd minute. The hosts finished third in the inaugural Airmarine Cup.
