LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The deputy intelligence director for southern Helmand province has died in hospital of wounds he sustained in a blast during a ceremony.
Two days back, four people were killed and 31 others were wounded when twin blasts happened in the Karzai Stadium in Lashkargah City at a ceremony marking National Farmer’s Day.
Government officials, including the governor, and ordinary people were attending the Farmers’ Day event.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that deputy intelligence direct Mohammad Asif Khan Khadem succumbed to his grave injuries at the Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah.
He said Khadem had sustained injuries in the head and doctors tried hard but could not rescue him.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) media in charge also confirmed Khadem’s death on his Facebook account.
