PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A notorious Taliban commander, accused of killing 10 policemen, has been detained in central Logar province, an official said Wednesday.
Shahpur Ahmadzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that police detained Qari Waqar, a Taliban group leader, during an operation in Pul-i-Alam, Logar’s capital, on Tuesday night.
Ahmadzai said the detainee had been involved in murdering 10 policemen and was captured with a pistol and two magazines. Waqar is currently under investigation at the police headquarters.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior also confirmed the arrest of Qari Waqar and accused him of his involvement in other terrorist activities as well.
The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
