29 convicted on drug trafficking charges in a week

KABUL (Pajhwok): Twenty-nine people have been handed out jail terms from two to 18 years on drugs trafficking charges within a week, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) announced on Tuesday.

The convicts had been detained by counternarcotics police and intelligence personnel with 58 kilograms of heroin, same quantity of morphine, 2,120 kilograms of opium and eight kilograms of hashish in different parts of the country, a statement from the CJTF said

It added three of the convicts wanted to smuggle heroin in their stomachs to India through the Hamid Karzai International airport.
