JALALABD (Pajhwok): Three people were killed and 19 others wounded in two back-to-back roadside bombings in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, an official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the twin blasts took place in the limits of 4th police district of Jalalabad City at 10:20am.
A 22-year-old girl, a woman and a third individual were killed and 19 others, including four women and two children, were wounded.
According to Khogyani, the injured also included five men, two traffic policemen, three border policemen and three National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel.
The injured were evacuated to the zonal hospital and two of them were said to be in critical condition, he added.
Eyewitnesses said the first blast happened near a police check-point and the second occurred when more police arrived in the area.
Bahram Khan, a resident of Khewa district and a rickshaw driver, said he was taking two women on the road when the blast took place. One woman was killed and the second wounded and Bahram were injured.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the twin blasts.
