China renews support to Afghan-owned peace process

KABUL Liu Jinsong on Tuesday renewed his country’s commitment to supporting an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned inclusive peace process.

A statement from the first deputy Chief of Executive Officer (CEO) Eng. Mohammad Khan media’s office received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that Mohammad Khan met with Liu Jinsong on the sidelines of the Cabinet meeting.

It added the two sides discussed bilateral issues relating to the peace negotiations, with the Chinese envoy reaffirming his country’s commitment to supporting an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned inclusive peace process.

Liu termed the ongoing conflict as destruction and urged the Afghans to reach an agreement of lasting peace in the country.

The envoy further added his country would support the war-torn country in areas of economy, military, culture and education.

Eng. Mohammad Khan thanked the Chinese government of its continued assistance with Afghanistan and termed China’s help with the Afghanistan peace process as important.
