KABUL Atif Mashal discussed his country’s peace process with Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday.
A statement from the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad to Pajhwok Afghan News said the newly-appointed Afghan envoy to Pakistan met with Qureshi on Wednesday.
It added the two sides discussed bilateral issues concerning Afghan peace negotiations, bilateral relations, trade and issues being faced by Afghan refugees in the neighboring country.
The statement quoted the Pakistani foreign minister as saying Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent remarks never meant interference in Afghanistan domestic affairs because it was not Islamabad’s right to do so.
Qureshi said his country respected Afghanistan sovereignty and such comments would not be repeated in future.
The statement said the two sides also discussed about a proposed joint conference religious scholars of the two countries in near future and Qureshi promised any type cooperation in this regard.
