Uplift projects worth 600 mn underway in Nangarhar: Governor

<p>JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Development projects worth 600 million afghanis have been started in eastern Nangarhar province, a statement from the Governor House said on Friday.</p>

<p>Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel expressed the view during a meeting with a delegation headed by Zahir Qadir.</p>

<p>Rehabilitation of Ghazi Amanullah Khan’s tomb, Jalalabad Roayal Palace, Bacha Khan Tombs rehabilitation, girls hostels, mosques, social centres and other facilities were part of the uplift projects, he said.</p>

<p>The governor termed security situation better than the past and said area under the government control had expanded.</p>

<p>He assured changes within security forces ranks and bringing reforms in the civil services to eradicate corruption and ensure transparency.</p>

<p>He said the law would be equally implemented and urged support from the people of Nangarhar in this regard.</p>

<p><a href="/en/wolesi-jirga" class="glossify-link">Wolesi Jirga</a> Member Haji Zahir Qader said that political differences should not cause problems for the people.</p>

<p>Qadir said he was not involved in illegal activities neither had private militia or prisons. The also rejected his involvement in land grapping and other illegal activities.</p>
