KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of petrol, flour, sugar and ghee have increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one liter of petrol increased from 50 Afghanis to 51 Afghanis, while the same quantity of diesel stood at 48afs

However, Ahmad Javid, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area, said one kilogram of the commodity was sold at 65afs, as the same price as last week’s.

Mohammad Hamanyon, head of Kabul Food Traders Union, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour increased from 1,360afs to 1,380afs, 49kg of Pakistani sugar from 1,720afs to 1,780afs and a tin of 16 liters of Khurshid ghee from 1,040 to 1,100afs.

However, he said that the price of 24 kilograms of Pakistani rice was stood at 2,000afs.

Noor Ahmad Khairkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs — same prices as last week’s.

Ahmad Samim, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,450afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 1,850afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,400afs a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,150afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 300afs and the same amount of black African tea for 350afs—higher than wholesale rates.

The prices of gold stayed unchanged.

Abdul Baseer, a jeweler in Lycee Maryam area of Kabul, said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 2,600afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 2,100afs.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 77.90afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 527afs against last week’s 76.60afs and 536afs.
