KABUL have claimed capturing the Gero district of southern Ghazni province while local official said the district centre had been shifted to a secure place due to insecurity.
Gero district is one of the troubled areas of Ghazni which boarder Paktia province in the east.
The district centre had been shifted to a safe place after the demands of the people, local officials and to facilitate traveling to the district centre, a statement from the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.
Governor spokesman Mohammad Arif said the district centre of Gero district had been shifted to Baran Qela area in Qarabagh district close to the Kabul-Kandahar highway.
He said the Taliban often staged attacks on the previous district centre and caused trouble to the people thus it had been shifted to secure place.
But the Taliban claimed to have capture the district centre, police station and all check-points.
