KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Kandahar police chief Maj. Gen. Tadin Khan has directed security forces to show no mercy to Taliban militants.
On the last day of the Consultative Loya Jirga.
In response, the Taliban rejected the truce offer and vowed to continue fighting.
Speaking to reporters, Tadin Khan said: “I have directed all security forces in Kandahar not to show mercy to the Taliban and eliminate them where you see them.”
While hitting out at Taliban’s rejection of the ceasefire proposal from the president, Khan said the fighters thought they were strong but, in fact, they had lost the ability to fight.
He said operation against the rebels were ongoing in Shah Wali Kot, Mianishin, Maiwand, Maroof, Arghistan and Shorabak districts. The rebels had been forced from their hideouts, he claimed.
The militants planned to stage attacks in Kandahar with the start of their spring offensive but they were suppressed, he said, adding hundreds of rebels had been killed.
