MAIDANSHAHAR (Pajhwok): The Taliban have claimed inflicting heavy casualties on security forces in central Maidan Wardak province but local officials say they were unaware of the development.
The Taliban claimed killing 23 security personnel and capturing four security check-posts in the overnight clashes in Chak and Syedabad districts.
They also claimed arresting three security personnel during the clashes.
Mohammad Bashir, the resident of Chak district who currently lives in Kabul, wrote on his facebook page: “Heavy fighting underway in Chak district. The Taliban exploded several mini bridges on the Chak-Kabul road and the highway was currently blocked.”
“It looks like the Taliban captured check posts in Lwar areas and Mohammad Daud areas and killed security personnel there,” he said.
The Taliban claimed killing 20 security personnel, capturing one and overrunning two security check-posts in the Salar locality of Syedabad district last night.
Governor spokesman Mohibullah Sharifi confirmed clashes in Chak and Syedabad district but there was no information available with him regarding casualties.
