KABUL attack on the facility in Kabul, while explosives police recovered were being dismantled.
A well-placed security source told Pajhwok Afghan News first a suicide blast took place in front of the international NGO compound Shahr-i-Naw area and then some armed militants entered the facility.
He did not provide more details, but Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, said 150 employees of the NGO had been rescued while efforts to rescue the rest were underway.
Nine injured people had been shifted to hospital from the site of the blast, according to health officials.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast.
The attack in limits of the 10th police district near the Attorney General Office (AGO) began Wednesday noon after the explosion hit the Counterpart International office, and followed by gunshots. The blast occurred at around 11:45am. Windowpanes in nearby building were shattered.
