KABUL), demanding invalidation of all votes cast in Kabul during the October polls.

The Wolesi Jirga elections were held on October 20 and 21 nationwide except Ghazni and Kandahar provinces. The elections in Kandahar were held a week later.

The IEC has so far announced Wolesi Jirga elections’ final results from all provinces but the final results from Kabul are yet to be announced.

Rajab Ali Andishmand, a protesting candidate, told media persons that of 2,447 polling centers, votes from 894 centers were missing and votes at 150 stations had been repeatedly listed at the database and votes of another 250 polling stations had been recorded without any acknowledgement.

Addressing reporters here, the Kabul Candidates Union termed the October 20, 2018 Wolesi Jirga polls as massively rigged and fraudulent and demanded trial of individuals who committed the fraud.

Safia Sediqui, another protesting candidate, said if their demands were not addressed, they would launch even bigger demonstrations.

She called for holding the Kabul Wolesi Jirga elections again with the upcoming presidential and provincial councils’ elections.

At the end of their rally, the protestors issued a resolution letter in which they demanded the fate of the 894 polling stations to be made known.
