GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A dozen Taliban insurgents and half a dozen civilians, including three brothers, have been killed in a drone strike in Andar district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.
A government official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened in Khani locality of the district on Sunday morning.
He said three brothers were among six civilians killed in the foreign forces’ airstrike that also killed 12 Taliban militants and wounded as many.
He said the Taliban militants were hiding in a civilian home when came under attack from the drone in the area.
Lal Mohammad, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok seven civilians had been killed in the incident.
He said, “Taliban militants visited our village last night and they were attacked by a drone in the morning.” However, he said all those killed were civilians.
But Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, said all those killed in the drone strike were Taliban militants.
However, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected Noor’s claim and said civilians were killed in the attack in Andar district.
