Nimroz Civil Hospital personnel go on strike

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Doctors of the civil hospital in southwestern Nimroz province on Monday went on strike in protest against what they called misbehavior of judicial organs and security forces.

One of the protesting doctors, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they protested against unfair behavior of judicial and security organs.

“Whenever an inquiry of an accused (about forensic information) is received by the hospital, it is not kept secret from the attendee of the patient, this threatens our security,” he said.

Dr. Khesraw Yousufzai, Nimroz public health director, confirmed doctors’ protest and said health workers went on strike today morning.

He said the issue was under discussion for finding a solution. “We have shared this issue with security and judicial organs and the problem is now solved,” he said. He said some doctors were threatened by judicial organs.

“The forensic center is not equipped enough to find the exact age of the accused, therefore it estimates the age with around three years of difference which is not a big problem, he said.

“Some issues need to be analyzed by doctors, but judicial organs emphasis on high accuracy or double check, which is not a welcoming job for the doctors,” he said.

On the other hand, Sayed Abdul Qayum Kamali, Nimroz appellate court head, said they had discussed the matter with a number of Nimroz Civil Hospital doctors who lacked enough information about the law.

He said judicial organs did not want to force doctors to do a task and those involved in such issues would be tried based on legal ground.
