GHAZNI (Pajhwok): Four people were killed and 10 others wounded in a car bomb explosion in the capital of southern Ghazni province on Wednesday, an official said.
The blast took place in Ghaib Qalandar area of Ghazni city at about 2pm, said the governor’s spokesman, Arif Noori. He told Pajhwok Afghan News police fired a rocket at the explosives-laden Humvee vehicle after identifying it, which caused explosion.
“Police identified the suicide attacker and hit his vehicle with a rocket,” he said, adding two policemen among four people were killed and ten others were wounded.
However, Ghazni civil hospital director Dr. Baz Mohammad Himmat said they had been delivered two dead bodies and 15 injured people. He said the dead persons were police and the injured also included police officials.
Resident Noor Ahmad said it was a powerful blast that shattered windowpanes of nearly houses and many people were injured by the flying glasses.
Shopkeeper Abdul Basir said ambulances were still present in the area to remove casualties. He had no information about casualties.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibly for the blast.
