KABUL, suggesting a continued campaign against terrorists in the country.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford was quoted as saying by the Washington Times on Wednesday that the anti-terror war would continue.
During a briefing at a Washington-based think tank, he said: “No one has suggested the US is going to leave Afghanistan until our counterterrorism interests are addressed.”
Gen. Dunford, speaking at the Brookings Institute hours after the Taliban and Russia issued the call for a complete US pullout, made clear that an exit at this point was non-negotiable
Despite ongoing talks on a political settlement with the Taliban, he said America’s continued military presence in the country was not up for debate.
