‘Interim setup unconstitutional, against national interest’

KABUL decisions regarding the continuation of the unity government beyond its legal term and said the creation of a temporary government was not in the interest of the country.

Around 2,000 people attended the gathering organized by the Youth Social Association. The participants said efforts were being made for creation of an interim government, which they called as against the Constitution.

Earlier, Ahmad Zia Masoud, head of the Afghanistan National Front, had talked about the creation of an interim government to ensure free and fair elections.

In the gathering, Afghanistan’s neighbors were urged to provide sincere cooperation to the war-torn in pursuit of peace and reconciliation.

Mohammad Agha Mazlomyar, head of the union, said participants of the meeting asked the Taliban and the government to end the proxy war in the country because the only brought disasters and caused backwardness.

He asked political forces to join hands in order to steer the country out of its existing crisis.

Rana Sorush, member of the association, said peace was the primary demand of people, adding they had been desperately waiting for the moment.

She asked the international community to consider establishment of peace in Afghanistan as a top priority.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued its verdict in favor of the government and allowed the current administration to work till presidential polls.
