KABUL (Pajhwok): Seeking to bring down the political temperature in the Middle East, the United States has offered Iran open-ended negotiations.
But Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who held out the offer on Sunday, made clear the US would continue pressurising Iran to change its behavior in the Middle East.
At a joint press conference with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis in Bellinzona, Pompeo voiced Washington’s willingness for unconditional discussions with Iran.
While blaming Tehran for trying to destabilising the region he said: “We’re prepared to engage in a conversation with no preconditions. We’re ready to sit down with them, but the American effort to fundamentally reverse the malign activity of this Islamic Republic…”
