KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): Four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed and five others wounded as a result of an airstrike in Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz province.
A credible source told Pajhwok Afghan News on the condition of anonymity that the airstrike targeted an ANA check-post in Ismael village on Tuesday night.
He confirmed four ANA men had been killed and five others wounded but said it was yet to be ascertained whether Afghan or foreign forces conducted the airstrike.
Mohammad Naeem, a resident of the village, confirmed a severe clash had been ongoing Tuesday night.
“The airstrike targeted the ANA check-post but security forces allowed no one go close to the post. Ten personnel manned the post, I think all of them have been killed,” he added.
Mahbob Sayedi, the district administrative chief, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok and said an investigation has been launched in this regard and details would be shared with media later on.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that foreign forces targeted Afghan counterparts in Imam Sahib district.
He said 15 soldiers, including a commander, were killed and a number of others fled the area.
