Petrol price down, flour up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of petrol edged down while that of Kazakhstani flour have increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price a liter of petrol downed from 53 Afghanis to 52 Afghanis while the same quantity of diesel stood at 49afs.

Ahmad Javid, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 70afs, the same rate of last week’s.

Mohammad Hamayon, head of Kabul Food Traders Union, said that the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour increased from 1,440afs to 1,480afs.

However, he said that 49kg of Pakistani sugar cost 2,040afs, 16 liters of Khurshid ghee 1,100afs, a bag of 24kg of Pakistani rice cost 2,200afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 280afs and the same quantity of African black tea 300afs, same rates of last week’s.

Ahmad Samim, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,520afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,100afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,500afs a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,150afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 320afs and the same amount of black African tea for 360afs—higher than wholesale rates.

Gold prices also increased.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahee area of Kabul, said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 2,650afs to 2,700afs and the same quantity of Russian variety from 2,170afs to 2,250afs.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 80afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 520afs against last week’s 79.70afs and 541afs.
