TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Security forces have recovered weapons and explosives in Tirinkot, the capital of Uruzgan, an official said on Sunday.
A former commander has been arrested in connection with the seizure of the weapons. The detainee has been sent to Kabul for investigation.
Police chief Col. Khitab Khanjari told Pajhwok Afghan News 28 millimeters cannons, Zeko U, Aga S, rockets, machine guns, Kalashnikovs and pistols were among the weapons seized.
He asked tribal elders not to visit the police station for the release of detainees and allow police to do their duty.
The Ministry of Interior has intensified the process of disbarment and action against powerful individuals in the provinces.
