A statement from MoPH, said a two and half years old child had tested positive, the child has been paralysed forever.
The statement added it was the 9th polio case since the beginning of 2019 in the country and the third in Uruzgan. Three cases have surfaced in Helmand, two in Kandahar and one in Kunar.
The ministry urged all parties to help accelerate an anti-polio campaign and administer children the required vaccine.
Hajib Yousafuddin, in charge of the vaccination department in Uruzgan, said no vaccination drive could be conducted in the Mehrabad area of Tirinkot, where the latest polio case had surfaced.
