Taliban’s deputy district chief surrenders in Sar-i-Pul

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Taliban’s shadow deputy chief for the Balkhab district of northern Sar-i-Pul province has surrendered to the security forces, an official claimed on Thursday. .

Police chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Jailani Abu Bakar told Pajhwok Afghan News Maulvi Mehdi Mujahid surrendered to Sancharak district police with a Kalashnikov and a wakie-talkie.

The police chief said the militants had been suppressed as a result of an offensive by the 206th Shaheen Military Coprts in the province.

Samaruddin, a resident of Sancharak district, confirmed the development. Pajhwok tried to reach Maulvi Mehdi Mujahid for comment but failed. The militant movement has so far said nothing in this regard.
