PAROON (Pajhwok): A road costing 220 million afghanis is being constructed in eastern Nuristan province to connect two districts --- Kamdesh and Barg-i-Matal --- with the provincial capital, Paroon.
A contract for pavement of the road was signed with 15 people councils at the governor’s house on Monday, said the governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Saeed Momand.
He said currently residents of the two districts travelled through neighboring Kunar province to reach Paroon. He said the road already paved until Peprok Ghakhi area of Paroon would be paved for another 24 kilometers to connect the two districts.
He said the road would cost 220 million afghanis and take six months to complete. The road would benefit tens of thousands of people living in the two towns.
Meanwhile, Nuristan provincial council chief Saeedullah Paindazoy said the road would prove beneficial for the people of the two districts as it would enable them to directly travel to Paroon.
