KABUL Breshna Shirkat (DABS) on Wednesday disconnected electricity supply to 10 major defaulters including some high former and current government officials in Kabul.
Khalid Stanekzai, DABS head, identified the 10 individuals as Bakht Mohammad Zadran, a senior advisor to CEO Dr. Abdullah, Baidar Zazai, former Wolesi Jirga lawmaker, Talash, Botkhak people movement chief, Gul Jamal, Nangarhar provincial council member and Noor Rahman as jihadi commander.
Residential compounds of these individuals are situated in 8th and 12th police districts of Kabul city.
DABS officials cut off electricity of these individuals while accompanied by quick reaction force.
Stanekzai said, “We had already informed these defaulters through media and letters to clear their outstanding bills but they did not pay attention, thus their electricity lines were cut off today.”
According to a list received by media, Bakht Mohammad Zadran has to pay 1.6 million afghanis, Baidar Zazai more than1.5 million afs, Mohammad Alam Khan nearly one million afs, Mukhtarulaq above 321,000 afs, Talash 433,000 more than afs, Noor Rahman and Mir Rahman 526,000 afs and Gul Jamal 217,000 afs to the Breshan Shirkat.
Eng. Abdul Wahid, chief of Kabul power, accused the mentioned men of not paying electricity bills for years despite being regularly served notices. He said the amount of unpaid electricity bills in Kabul reached over three billion afghanis.
