Pentagon identifies soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL.

The fallen soldiers were named Army Master Sgt. Michael B. Riley, 32, and Army Sgt. James G. Johnston, 24.

They were killed in central Uruzgan province on Wednesday, the Pentagon said, adding men died of wounds suffered from small arms fire.

Riley, originally from Heilbronn, Germany, was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson, Colorado, AP reported.

Johnston, a native of Trumansburg, was assigned to 79th Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 71st Ordnance Group, at Fort Hood, Texas. He joined the US Army in 2013.

Johnston’s family plans to collect his remains at Dover Air Force Base and have him buried in Texas.
