MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Local officials on Tuesday said Afghan forces have recaptured two strategic locations after a year in the outskirts of Maimana, capital of northwestern Faryab province.
Abdul Karim Yourish, Faryab police spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News that Kata Qala and Hazara Qala areas of Maimana city were fallen to militants about a year ago but they were cleared off militants during a joint operation today.
A Taliban official also confirmed retreating from the two locations.
