Kabul police detain 1,400 crime suspects in 4 months

KABUL (Pajhwok): Claiming decline in criminal incidents in capital Kabul, police on Thursday announced arresting 1,400 individuals in connection with different crimes in various parts of the city and districts during the past four months.

Police Chief Lt. Gen. Syed Mohammad Roshan Dil told reporters here 701 of the alleged criminals had been accused of murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, planned crimes, moral crimes, fraud, vehicle theft, extortion and mobile theft.

He termed the past four months as successful for police and added the eradication of a criminal gang led by Enayat Qachi in Paghman district, the arrest of an individual possessing five pistols without license, the eradication of Nabi Kohbandi, head of a 10-member gang and other arrests were some of police achievements.

As a result of the arrests and elimination of some gangsters, the security situation in Kabul has returned to normalcy.

He said during police actions against criminals, 143 weapons of different kind, two rockets, one machine gun, 150 heavy bullets and 1,125 light weapons and 51 vehicles had been recovered.

According to Roshan Dil, 84 individuals have been arrested in connection with subversive and terrorist activities and after initial investigation they were referred to the authorities concerned for further investigation.
