KABUL’s Resolute Support (RS) mission said on Tuesday.
In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, names of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete.
The Fort Bragg paratroopers were killed during combat on Monday. They were based outside Fort Bragg in North Carolina, the US Army said in a news release.
“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the loss of two Paratroopers from the Brigade during combat operations,” Col. Art Sellers was quoted as saying.
The deaths bring to 12 the number of US soldiers killed in Afghanistan so far this year. The US military has suffered 2,427 fatalities since 2001.
Currently, the US has about 14,000 troops in Afghanistan, a reduction following the 2014 drawdown.
