Herat attack: 10 local security personnel killed

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Ten security personnel have been killed and five others injured in the Taliban attack on security forces check-post in the Kashak-i-Kuhna district of western Herat province, an official said on Tuesday.

Wakeel Ahmad Karokhi, in charge of the security committee of Herat, said the Taliban stormed security forces check-points last night and the fire-fight continued for till 5:00am in the morning.

He added besides attack on local security personnel, the Taliban stormed police check-posts in the area but he did not provide the details regarding casualties.

Farzad Farotan, Herat police deputy spokesman, acknowledged attack on police check-points in Kashak-i-Kuhna district.

Zafar Military Corps officials could not be reached for comments.
