A statement from the ministry received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the government’s team for peace negotiations was created after consultations with all parties concerned.

“Political, social and ethnic balance is considered in this 15-member negotiating team, so it is be able to talk on behalf of the Afghan government”, the statement said.

It said the Afghan government was fully committed to bringing stable, just and dignified peace to the country.

The State Ministry for Peace Affairs considered strategic relations with states in the region as a basic principle for the country’s stability, the statement said.

It said the Afghan government was in agreement with the US about next steps on the peace process.

However, the statement did not name those part of the negotiating team.
