ZARANJ (Pajhwok): At least 17 tonnes of drugs have been torched by police in northwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Thursday.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Nabi Barahawi commended security forces for their achievement and said the use of narcotics was against Islamic teachings.
Mohammad Ibrahim, media officer at the governor’s house, said the drugs had been seized by counter-narcotics police and other detective organs in various parts of the province.
The drugs torched included 116 kilograms of heroin, 765 kilograms of opium, 52 kilograms of hashish, 330 kilograms of solid chemicals, 152 litres of liquid chemicals and 93 litres of alcoholic drinks.
